Motorola may have put most of its efforts into its new Moto X, Moto G, and Moto 360 in recent months, but the company hasn’t forgotten about its Droid partnership with Verizon. In fact, the company reportedly has a new handset up its sleeve that’s set to arrive next month with a new rapid charging feature.

“Verizon Wireless’s premier smartphone franchise, the Droid line, will get a new sibling when the carrier unveils another Droid smartphone next month, according to people familiar with the launch plans,” CNET reports. An exact launch date is still to be confirmed, and as you might expect, Motorola declined to comment.

Unlike previous years, which has seen three Droid devices for different market segments launched alongside one another, there will be just one for 2014. It is expected to build upon the Droid’s reputation for long battery life, and its “marquee feature” will be its ability to charge quickly.

One of the names Motorola and Verizon have considered for this device is Droid Turbo, which has been mentioned in previous rumors and would certainly suit its rapid charging feature — but CNET says that the companies are yet to decide on a moniker.

Verizon has already been teasing the new device with the @DroidLanding account on Twitter, which tweeted on September 9, “Faster charging is a big deal. That’s why we made it a bigger deal.”
