HTC One M8 users on Verizon must wait until mid-September for Android 4.4.3

If you’re an HTC One M8 owner on Verizon, it seems your Android 4.4.3 upgrade is going to take a great deal longer than originally anticipated. A GPS issue has led to delays in the software’s rollout, but HTC expects Verizon users to begin receiving it by mid-September.

Jason Mackenzie, president of HTC USA, confirmed the disappointing news on Twitter when asked when the Android 4.4.3 update — which has already been made available on most other One M8 variants, including the T-Mobile model earlier this week — would finally be coming to Verizon.

HTC had to make some changes to the update to fix a GPS issue, which means the software had to be re-certified by Verizon. As soon as that process is complete, users should finally be able to get their hands on it.

This is a fairly major upgrade for the One M8, and the last it will receive before Android L. In addition to some important security fixes from Android 4.4.4, it also includes numerous Sense 6 improvements, such as optimized BoomSound, Extreme Power Saving mode, and improved camera performance.
