You May Be Able To Buy Google Glass In Best Buy Next Year [Rumor]

Google clearly has high hopes for Google Glass, and it’s confident that in the future, we’ll all be wearing one. In fact, you may be able to pick one up in your local Best Buy when you pop in for that new Justin Bieber CD. Rumor has it Google is renting 6,000 square feet of floor space inside every Best Buy store next year just to sell its new wearable tech.

“I just heard an interesting rumor,” wrote Robert Scoble on Google+. “Supposedly Google is renting 6,000 square feet inside every Best Buy next year. Why? My source says it’s to sell Google Glass”

That means that once initial demand has died down, Google Glass could be as easy to obtain as Google’s Nexus tablets — though the price tag will be significantly steeper, of course. But bear in mind that at the moment, this is just a rumor. Scoble is keen to stress that in his post, but as he points out, it makes a lot of sense.

“This makes sense, since you really need to try Glass before buying it to see if it’s for you and you also need to have it fitted to your face.”

Scoble also notes that those who wear prescription glasses will also need to have special lenses made, and that’s something that can be taken care of when you’re having your Google Glass fitted.

This could be the best way for Google to sell Glass to the average consumer. At the moment, a lot of people still aren’t convinced by the technology, and they’re not keen on the way it looks, either. But if they had the chance to try it out the next time they’re in Best Buy, they could be persuaded to change their mind.
