Google has released an interesting update for Google Currents, which adds support for audio playback, along with various other minor updates such as synchronization of post read-states between devices.

Isn’t it annoying when you have to load up that old computer sat in the corner of your room just to change your Facebook profile picture, because the Android app won’t let you? Well not anymore, folks!

The Facebook app has today been updated to add a few handy new features, including the ability to change profile pictures, and hide or report stories in your news feed.

Jawbone-UP-Android

It’s taken well over a year, but the Jawbone UP finally has an official companion app in Google Play. The device has only been compatible with iOS devices since it launched in November 2011, but now you can track your sleep and physical activity on Android-powered smartphones, too.

Furthermore, starting today, UP will be available in Apple stores across Europe.

Glovebox-Android

A few weeks ago, Canonical released the first look of Ubuntu for phones, and soon after released developer preview builds for the Nexus devices from Google. While the OS in itself is not yet ready for consumers, the preview build does show off the interesting gesture based UI that Canonical has come up with.

One of the highlights of Ubuntu for phones is the app launcher that comes up with a simple swipe from the left edge of the screen, allowing you to quickly launch an app from anywhere in the OS. A relatively new app in the Play Store – Glovebox (free) – aims to bring similar functionality to all Android devices out there. Here’s how to set it up.

Even though Apple’s iOS feature, Newsstand, hasn’t really taken off, Google might be looking to launch its own similar feature.

Google’s newspaper feature will be called Google Play News, and it will be come in issues and subscriptions, similar to the way content is distributed on Apple’s Newsstand.
