For gamers, the question of whether Nintendo will/should develop titles for smartphones has been hotly debated in recent weeks — with reports suggesting either way seemingly being shot down on a daily basis.

In a reversal of a previous denial (got that?), Nintendo has now confirmed that it will use smart devices as a platform for apps and promotions, after all — but that there are currently no plans to port core titles over to Android or iOS.

Earlier today, Jason Mackenzie, the President of HTC America, officially revealed on Twitter that HTC’s flagship smartphone will not meet its self-imposed 90-day deadline for its much-anticipated Android 4.4 KitKat update to touch down in the U.S. and Canada. However, according to Mackenize, it shouldn’t take more than a couple of weeks for the HTC One updates to be complete.

Samsung unveiled its former flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note II, back in August, 2012, and a month later the handset was available in the U.K. from several retailers for £599.99. However, if you haven’t had the opportunity or the wherewithal to pick one up before now, it may be of interest to you to know that the popular online retailer, Very, is currently offering the device with a £200 discount.

AT&T is currently rolling out its final update to all HTC One X’s located in the United States. This upgrade brings the latest build of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and Sense 5.0 to the 2012 flagship, in addition to the usual multitude of bug fixes and stability improvements.

In Western Europe, one of the biggest chains to sell smartphones is a company known — somewhat hysterically, given that no one has bought a dedicated carphone for fifteen years — as the Carphone Warehouse. But there will now be 60 less Carphone Warehouse stores in Europe… thanks to Samsung, who have snapped them up with the intention of turning them into dedicated Samsung Stores. And as a bonus? The deal will help Samsung challenge Apple’s retail dominance in Europe.
