Google Issues Several Performance Improvements to Android Market App

Google has issued an update to its Android Market application that makes a whole host of improvements to the speed and stability of the service. While it doesn’t pack any new features like the recent 3.1.3 release, it does make using the Android Market a much nicer experience.

To install the application, you have two options: You can either wait for it to update automatically on your device, or if you’re really impatient eager and you want it instantly, you can install it manually. The APK for Android Market 3.1.5 has been uploaded to the XDA Developer Forums, where you can now download it and install it on your device. If you’d like to take the manual route, here’s how:

You can either navigate to the Android Market 3.1.5 APK on your Android device and download the file directly to your storage. However, if you’re more comfortable using your computer, follow these 3 steps:

Step 1:

Firstly, be sure to back up your existing Android Market app. While you may be confident that you know what you’re doing, it’s always a good idea to back up — just in case anything goes wrong. Once you’ve done that, download the Android Market 3.1.5 APK onto your computer.

Step 2:

Connect your device to your computer via USB, then transfer the Android Market 3.1.5 APK that you just downloaded to your device’s root folder. Once the transfer is complete, disconnect the device.

Step 3:

Use a file manager — there are hundreds in the Android Market if you don’t already have one — to locate the file you just transferred to your device. Once you’ve found it, open it up and install it on your device by following the instructions on screen. Once installed, you may have to perform a reset.

And that’s it — you should now be running Android Market 3.1.5. Be sure to let us know what you think of the performance improvements.
