Google’s Andy Rubin Announces 700,000 Android Activations Per Day

Andy Rubin, SVP of Mobile at Google, recently announced that Android now sees 700,000 activations per day. The last time he gave such an update was in June of 2011, when Android was seeing 500,000 activations per day.

These astonishing numbers signal Android’s incredible growth over the last year. On his Google+ profile, Rubin noted how Google determined its new activations figure:

“…and for those wondering, we count each device only once (ie, we don’t count re-sold devices), and “activations” means you go into a store, buy a device, put it on the network by subscribing to a wireless service.”
