How To: Use Your Samsung Galaxy Nexus As A Portable Hotspot [No Root]
I’ve held out on this one for a bit now but I’m going to show you guys how to enable the hotspot feature on your Samsung Galaxy Nexus without any funky tweaks or root. I felt it was necessary to share this considering it’s the number one feature I use on my phone and I’d be lost without it. Unfortunately this is something your carrier certainly does not condone and you will be doing this at your own risk (sounds scary but it isn’t).
The first thing you will want to do is download a Wi-Fi hotspot widget from the Google Play Store. I use the free Portable Wi-Fi hotspot Widget by taiseiko. After you have installed the Wi-Fi hotspot widget, you’ll be able to find it in the widget section of your app drawer. Add it anywhere on your homescreen and you’ll be able to one-click toggle your wireless tether/hotspot at anytime. Your connection will of course depend on the strength of your 4G/3G signal and believe me, it works excellent when 4G is available. That’s it, it’s that simple.
