Sony has invited Mobile World Congress attendees to a press event on Monday, February 22. The announcement all but confirms the Japanese company has something up its sleeve for the giant mobile technology convention, but what?

Sony traditionally unveils a host of new devices at MWC in Barcelona, but its latest offerings — the Xperia Z5 family — are just three months old, and are only just about to go on sale in the United States. It’s highly unlikely we’re going to see an Xperia Z6.

It has been a while since Sony introduced a tablet, though; the Xperia Z4 Tablet was announced last March, and we’ve yet to see a slate make its way into the Xperia Z5 lineup. Sony’s SmartWatch 3, which was unveiled at IFA 2014, is also looking a little long in the tooth.

It’s likely Sony’s event will feature a tablet and new wearables, then — and possibly a midrange Xperia smartphone powered by Marshmallow. Sadly, the company’s invitation gives away nothing, so we have just over a month to wait to find out for certain.
