Motorola has finally begun its rollout of Android 5.1 Lollipop for the DROID Turbo, which brings a whole bunch of big changes. In addition to Google’s Material Design overhaul, users can look forward to lock screen notifications, Smart Lock, and lots, lots more.

The full list of changes can be found over on Motorola’s update page, but here are some of the highlights:

  • Material Design
  • Lock screen notifications
  • Priority notifications
  • Scheduled downtimes
  • Redesigned recent apps space
  • Ambient Display
  • Chop twice for flashlight gesture
  • Device Protection
  • Smart Lock

Lollipop also brings significant improvements to performance and battery life, thanks to Google’s switch to the ART runtime.

Android 5.1 for the DROID Turbo is currently rolling out to a small number of users as part of a soak test, but providing all goes well, all DROID Turbo owners will see it soon.
