HTC’s awesome Gallery app for the One M8 is now unofficially available on other Android smartphones. Root access is not necessary; it’s as easy as downloading the app’s APK file and installing it manually on your device.

Excellent first-party apps are one of the reasons why HTC’s Sense user interface is considered one of the best manufacturer skins for Android. The only downside is those of us without HTC devices cannot use them… at least not without some third-party tweaks.

“Turkbey06” of the XDA Developers forum has modified the One M8’s Gallery app to enable it to work on other Android devices. It was optimized and tested with an LG G3, but users are reporting that it works just fine on other devices — like the Moto G and the Nexus 6 — too.

To try it out on your device, you simply need to download the APK from the XDA thread and side-load it onto your smartphone. You do not need root access, but bear in mind that performance and stability will almost certainly vary between different devices.
