HTC’s latest Desire smartphone detailed in new leak
HTC is planning yet another addition to its Desire lineup, leaked photos have confirmed, and it’s going to be one of the company’s more exciting mid-range offerings.
In addition to a familiar form factor with fancy accents, the Desire 626 is expected to have decent specifications, including a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and an octa-core processor.
The images and specifications come from the ever-reliable @Upleaks, who has an excellent track record — especially when it comes to upcoming HTC announcements. At first glance, the Desire 626 looks almost identical to the Desire 826 that HTC unveiled at CES earlier this month, but it’s very different under the hood.
The Desire 626 won’t be as impressive as the slightly larger Desire 826, but it won’t be bad, either — and you can expect it to be more affordable. It’s said to be packing a 5-inch 720p display, a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage.
The Desire 626 is also expected to have a 13-megapixel camera on its back, a 5-megapixel camera on its front, and a 2,00mAh battery. @Upleaks says it’ll ship with Android 4.4 KitKat pre-installed, which is a bit of a shame, but an Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade is planned.
A cheaper variant of the device with a 1.2Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 410 chip and only 1GB of RAM could also be available later on.
While HTC’s desire lineup isn’t as pretty as its flagship One series, the higher-end models are still pretty darn attractive. However, HTC usually makes us pay a premium for that, so Desires often end up being more expensive than comparable devices from rival manufacturers.
If design is something you care about, though, and you don’t mind spending a little extra for it, keep an eye out for the Desire 626.
