HTC is bringing YouTube live streaming to your RE camera
HTC is rolling out a big update for its RE camera app tomorrow, which will enable the ability to live stream to YouTube. The feature is designed to let users share special moments with loved ones who can’t be there in real-time, and it’ll be available on Android first.
“Now consumers can easily share the moment by connecting a RE camera to their YouTube channel and sending a live broadcast link to viewers around the world,” HTC said in its announcement.
The RE camera itself doesn’t have a data connection, of course, so the video is routed through a connected smartphone and directly to YouTube. You simply need to enable YouTube’s live streaming feature within your channel settings, login into your YouTube account within the RE app, and then hit the broadcast button.
You can invite people to watch your stream via SMS or social networks, and those who can’t tune in in real-time will be able to watch the video later.
HTC says YouTube streaming will be available inside the RE app for Android starting tomorrow, while those using an iOS device will get it “later in Q1 2015.”
