BlackBerry is at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week where it is showing off BBM on Android Wear. The Canadian company promises to take its messaging service’s most popular features and make them available on your wrist, so you can do more than just preview new messages.

BlackBerry doesn’t want to just provide its BBM users with an arbitrary Android Wear app that does nothing but shows your messages on your watch. Instead, it wants to make BBM on your wrist so good that you’ll want to tell your friends all about it (and not even think about switching to WhatsApp).

While reading your messages on Android Wear is one feature, you’ll also have the ability to reply to them using a bunch of predefined responses. So, if you’re in the shower, driving, or stuck in a meeting, you can acknowledge new BBMs and even address them with just a few quick taps.

And when those predefined responses just won’t cut it, you’ll also be able to compose replies with your voice using Google Now. BBM on Android Wear will also let you review and accept new BBM contact requests without taking your phone out of your pocket.

BlackBerry notes that BBM for Android Wear is only its “first step to support cross-platform wearable technology,” which means you can expect BBM presence on wearables to grow and improve over time. You’ll be able to use it on your Android Wear watch “soon.”
