Moto X owners in the U.K. are finally set to receive the handset’s long-awaited Android 4.4.4 KitKat update. Motorola’s latest release delivers the most recent security fixes from Google, improved camera performance, and a new dialer app.

Motorola was one of the first third-party handset manufacturers to rollout Google’s Android 4.4.4 update, but while owners in the U.S. were top of the company’s update list, those in Europe have been forced to wait.

That’s no longer the case for Moto X handsets in the U.K., which are now received the software over-the-air. It comes with build number “212.44.26,” and it delivers a number of new features and some nice improvements.

In addition to the standard Android 4.4.4 enhancements to stability, framework, and security, the update brings improved camera quality with better exposure, more realistic flash coloring, and better photos in low light; the ability to pause video recordings; and an updated Phone dialer.

It also adds Motorola Alert, an app that sends periodic notifications with your location to selected contacts to let them know you’re safe. It’s ideal for tracking the whereabouts of your kids while they’re out of the house.
