OnePlus hints at SwapStyle cover launch this month

OnePlus-One-back

OnePlus has had no problem selling its new smartphone — after all, who doesn’t want a flagship phone for $299? — but there have been tremendous problems with availability. The same can be said for the company’s official accessory lineup, but a teaser posted on Twitter today suggests its first SwapStyle cover will be available to purchase later this month.

Like the Moto X and the Moto G, the OnePlus One has removable back covers that are available in a number of attractive designs. You get a shiny white one or a soft matte black one as standard — depending on whether you choose the 16GB or 64GB model — but OnePlus will also offer kevlar, bamboo, denim, and wood options.

These SwapStyle covers were announced alongside the device, but they’re yet to go on sale — even though handsets have now been shipping for over a month. That could be about to change, however.

The image above below was posted on Twitter by OnePlus earlier today with the message, “Wood you like to know more? 7.22.” It suggests that the wooden SwapStyle cover will be the first one to go on sale, with a possible launch date of Tuesday, July 22.

If you’re lucky enough to own a OnePlus, then this will surely be good news. You can finally begin customizing your device to your liking… if you like wood. If you were hoping to bag one of the other SwapStyle options, however, you could be waiting longer.

It’s unclear at this point how much the SwapStyle covers will cost, but be sure to follow OnePlus on Twitter and you should know more in under two weeks.
