Changing your app icons on Android is as easy as installing the right third-party launcher and a new icon pack. But what if you don’t want to use a third-party launcher? If you have a rooted Samsung device running a TouchWiz ROM, then you can use a simple app called WizIconizer to replace your stock icons with new ones.

It’s no wonder an app like this was developed for TouchWiz ROMs. While Samsung’s platform has improved slightly with the Galaxy S5 and other 2014 releases, it’s still far from perfect — and its icons are one of its biggest design and most recognizable design flaws. Fortunately, it’s easy to hide them with WizIconizer.

Once installed on a rooted Samsung device, this free app lets you apply CSCAppResource icon packs to your standard TouchWiz ROM to replace the stock icons. Simply download an icon pack, extract it to your phone’s internal memory, and then tell WizIconizer which pack you want to apply.

You’ll need to restart your device to apply the new icons, and if you decide you don’t like them, you can easily switch to a new icon pack or restore the stock TouchWiz icons.

WizIconizer has been tested on a bunch of Galaxy devices running Android 4.1.2 and above — including the Galaxy S5 — and it works well. It’s still a new app, so its feature set is pretty bare right now, but it does exactly what it says on the tin.
