Sony Xperia Z2 gets official TWRP custom recovery

An official Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) custom recovery is now available for Sony’s new Xperia Z2, giving owners the opportunity to flash third-party ROMs and tweaks — such as CyanogenMod — and make complete backups of their device.

TWRP isn’t the first custom recovery to reach the Xperia Z2 — ClockwordMod Recovery is also available — but it is one of the biggest, best, and most reliable there is. As a result, lots of tweakers would prefer to use TWRP over its rivals — and those with an Xperia Z2 will be pleased it’s now available for their device.

TWRP not only allows for the flashing of custom ROMs and other third-party tweaks, but it also enables users to create complete backups of their device.

Not all handset manufacturers provide this option, and those that do don’t always get it right. But a TWRP backup will save everything you have on your device and allows you to reinstall it all with just one flash. It’s ideal for those who like to switch between custom ROMs without the hassle of setting up their device from scratch every time.
