New Android logo breaks cover in alleged Android Wear boot animation

Google appears to be gearing up to change its Android logo almost six years after the platform’s inception. A new logo has appeared in a 17-second video that allegedly shows off the boot animation for LG’s upcoming G Watch that will be powered by Android Wear.

But the new Android logo seen in the video below from @UpLeaks is much more modern.

We can’t confirm whether or not this boot animation is genuine at this stage — and even if it is, it doesn’t guarantee Google will be changing Android’s logo anytime soon — but @UpLeaks has been reliable in the past. And with both Android Wear and a new Android 5.0 update right around the corner, now would be a good time for a change.

Google modernized Motorola Mobility’s logo in 2013, two years after acquiring the company for $12.5 billion. A slightly different font was used for that, but it did take on a similar, simple and rounded design.
