Xiaomi Mi3

According to a leak from China, the successor of the Xiaomi Mi3 could land in the markets later this year featuring a heavily revamped hardware. It is said that the design of the handset will get a considerable upgrade and will be accompanied by a powerful Snapdragon 801 quad core chipset. This could be crucial in the company’s plans to sell 60 million smartphones this year.

This new flagship is also expected to feature a 5 inch 1080p display, a 13-megapixel camera sensor, an 8-megapixel front facing camera, LTE connectivity, 3GB of RAM and possibly Android 4.4 KitKat. Pricing of the device is rumored to be 1,999 CNY ($323), so it’s clear that the Mi3S will follow in its predecessor’s footsteps as far as pricing is concerned.

The Mi3 has been a very lucrative product for Xiaomi in China with global customers importing the device in large quantities as well. Pricing has definitely been the key to its success and it’s good to see that the successor will follow the same strategy.

Considering Xiaomi’s ambitions to reach out to the global markets, we might see the new Mi3S launching internationally as well.
