HTC’s yet-to-be announced flagship smartphone of 2014, the HTC One Plus (M8) is expected to be unveiled during the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona at the end of this month, however, we’re now starting to see the first signs that a scaled-down variant is also in the works. According to a popular leaker, the ‘mini’ version of the Happy Telephone Company’s upcoming flagship will sport a 4.5-inch display — that’s only 0.2-inches larger than the display of last years One Mini.

In terms of specifications, the One Plus Mini (M8 Mini) is expected to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset powered by four quad-core central processing units, a whopping 13-megapixel rear-facing camera equipped with optical image stabilization, a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal flash memory (expandable up to 64GB via microSD) and, finally, the Mini should come with upgraded on-screen buttons.

The leaked specifications.

Judging by these relatively impressive specs, the One Plus Mini (M8 Mini) is destined to be a top of the line mid-range Android-powered smartphone.

With regards to the handset”s design, we presume that the new One Plus (M8) and One Plus Mini (M8 Mini) will look alarmingly similar, since the original One and One Mini sport the exact same aluminium unibody. Though, obviously, both devices will feature different internal components and will ship running the latest build of Android 4.4.2 KitKat coupled with Sense 6.0.

As with all leaks, rumors and speculation, we have to take these alleged specifications and launch dates with a pinch of salt until HTC provides us with some solid evidence with regards to what it has in store for its next flagship smartphones.
