New Galaxy Note 3 Update Will Fix Third-Party Accessory Issues

Samsung has promised that it will roll out another Galaxy Note 3 update to fix the third-party case issues brought about by its Android 4.4 KitKat release. Since the South Korean company began seeding KitKat to the Galaxy Note 3 last week, those with third-party cases that offer “S-View” functionality have suddenly stopped working.

Only Samsung’s official S-View case is immune from the issue, and at first, the company refused to acknowledge any correlation between its KitKat update and the incompatibility issue. Now it has admitted its software is the problem, and it is working to provide another over-the-air update that will resolve it.

“We have currently identified a software compatibility issue with the Galaxy Note 3 update to Android 4.4 (KitKat) and select 3rd party accessories,” Samsung told Ars Technica.

“A software update will be available shortly. We are committed to offering a diverse and reliable mobile experience for all customers, providing continued support and solutions for any issues that arise with product updates for both Samsung manufactured and third-party accessories.”

Samsung doesn’t confirm when the update will be available, but hopefully it won’t keep us waiting too long.
