20-1-2014-58

XOLO launched its new mid-range Android-powered smartphone, the Q700S, in India today, which the popular Indian manufacturer hopes will rise to the top of the Asian ultra-affordable market in the not-too-distant future. The handset comes in either a silver or gold metallic finish and is available to purchase for 9,999 Indian Rupees, which is approximately $162.

The Q700S packs a 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels, a Mediatek MT6582M chipset powered by four 1.3GHz CPU’s, 1GB of RAM, a Mali-400 MP2 GPU, 4GB of internal storage (expandable up to 32GB via microSD), an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, a VGA front-facing shooter and a 1,800 mAh user-removable Li-Ion battery.

In terms of software, the device will ship running the latest build of ‘Vanilla’ Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, and, unfortunately that’s where it will stay, the handset will not receive neither the 4.3 Jelly Bean or the 4.4 KitKat updates. So if you’re thinking of buying the Q700S, please be aware that it will remain on 4.2.2 for the duration of its lifespan.
