Google Not-So-Subtly Hints At Android’s Next OS Name [MWC 2012]

You may have noticed that Google likes to name its Android versions after delicious treats. Starting with Cupcake, Google has followed alphabetically with Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, and Ice Cream Sandwich. Are you drooling yet? Up next is the letter J and its been rumored that the next version will be called Jelly Bean. It makes sense considering the lack of J-lettered treats and it makes even more sense thanks to Google’s private meeting area at MWC.

If you had the pleasure of visiting Google’s private meeting area at this year’s Mobile World Congress, you may have noticed the large bowl of jelly beans sitting on a table in the middle of the room. If this is Google’s way of being subtle, we’ll take it, and a few jelly beans while we’re at it. The guys over at the Verge tried to get Andy Rubin to “spill the beans” but he simply declined to confirm anything and politely offered the tasty treats to the team. I don’t know about you but I’m taking this as a confirmation.
