Gmail Update Adds Out Of Office, Support For Sending Any File Type
The latest Gmail update for Android, that was first announced by Google back in mid-December, is finally rolling out via Google Play. In addition to Out of Office auto-reply, the update adds support for sending any file type, and the ability to print documents wirelessly.
To use Out of Office auto-reply, simply jump into the Gmail settings menu and tap on your account, then choose “vacation responder.” You can then toggle the feature on and off, schedule a date for it to start and finish automatically, and specify its automatic reply. You can also choose whether auto-reply emails are sent to everyone or just your Gmail contacts.
You can now use Gmail to send attachments of any type, too, including Office documents, ZIP files, and PDFs. What’s more, you can finally attach multiple files to one email — providing you’re running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or above. Those will the latest version of Android — 4.4 KitKat — can also print emails wirelessly from directly within Gmail.
Finally, this update enhances Gmail performance on low-memory devices.
You can download the latest Gmail release now from Google Play. It’ll rollout in phases, so if you don’t see it right away, it should appear over the coming days.
