Android 4.4.2 KitKat Factory Images Are Now Available For The Nexus 4, 5, 7, & 10
The latest build (KOT49H) of Google’s recently updated operating system, 4.4.2 KitKat, is now officially available to download for the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. However, this update doesn’t use Android’s standard over-the-air (OTA) upgrade process. Instead, you will have to download the 4.4.2 factory images and install them on your device via the search engine giants Developer Platform.
These factory images are not your standard JPG or PNG. They are, in fact, images, which allow you to directly update and wipe your device – effectively installing the newly released operating system from scratch, and giving you a fresh start on your slate. The images are also particularly useful if you have previously tinkered around with the ROM on your device, and need an easy route back to the stock version of Android.
Android 4.4.2 KitKat brings a completely redesigned multitasking system which optimizes memory usage in every major component, “meaning users can run more of their favourite apps and switch between them faster than ever.”
In addition, Google has also bundled some very important bug fixes in the 4.4.2 upgrade. The full changelog can be seen below:
- Fix for clearing the VM Indicator
- Fix for delivery of the VM Indicator
- Various additional software fixes
- Security enhancements
