BBM Update Brings Contact Categories, List Sorting & Filtering In Groups & More

BBM-Nexus-5

BlackBerry just rolled out another new update to BBM for Android, adding a handful of features that were brought to the iOS version back in October. Users now have the ability to organize contacts into categories, and sort and filter lists in BBM Groups. They can also invite friends to BBM.

With this update, BlackBerry is clearly trying to boost the awareness of BBM for Android and iOS in the hope that it’ll lead to more users. In addition to the ability to “tell your friends” about the app, the new update lets you share your BBM PIN and PIN barcode on your favorite social networks.

The app has already been a big success on rival platforms, though, with more than 20 million users joining the service since it made its debut on Android and iOS back in October. The total number of users across — including those on BlackBerry — now exceeds the 80 million mark.

Today’s update also addresses an issue that caused some users to experience abnormal battery drain, and it makes bug fixes and performance improvements. You can download the app now from Google Play by using the source link below, and as always, it’s completely free.
