Black 16GB Nexus 5 No Longer Available To Order As Google Struggles To Meet Demand

The black 16GB Nexus 5 is no longer available to order through Google Play as Google struggles to keep up with initial demand. Shipping times have been slipping since the handset went on sale on October 31, and they’re only getting worse almost two weeks later.

You can still order a black 32GB Nexus 5 (if you don’t mind a 2-3 week wait), and both the 16GB and 32GB white models, but you can’t even join the waiting list for the black 16GB variant at this point. “We are out of inventory,” reads the message on Google Play. “Please check back soon.”

You may still be able to get the handset from third-party retailers, of course, but unless you’re willing to sign into a new contract for it, you’re likely to pay a lot more for the device.

It’s unclear how many Nexus 5 handsets Google produced initially, but the handset certainly seems to be a success so far. Every company would like to sell its latest product faster than it can make it.
