LG Trademarks “G Health” As The Name For Its Upcoming Smartwatch

LG has officially applied for a trademark on the name “G Health” for its rumored upcoming smartwatch. The name suggests that the device is expected to be focused on health, with its main objective being to monitor a user’s workouts and track their physical activity.

Not much is revealed in the trademark’s filing, but recent rumors suggest that the device will be unveiled in January, 2014, and will be the first smartwatch on the market to feature a flexible display – similar to the G Flex, which LG announced yesterday.

It’s believed that the smartwatch will run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean skinned with a custom user interface, which has been specially designed for the G Health. As of this year, all of LG’s current smartphones on the market run Google’s operating system, so this claim seems perfectly feasible.

Of course, it’s quite possible that this name will never see the light of day, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t keep our eyes peeled. We’re certainly excited to see what LG comes up with for its upcoming smartwatch, so be sure to check back for more information.
