Google Pushing Out OTA Update For HTC One Google Play Edition

Starting today, Google is rolling out an over-the-air update for the Google Play Edition of HTC’s flagship One. This upgrade brings the handset up to speed with current Nexus devices running build JWR66Y. Although it doesn’t bring any major software improvements, it’s still quite an important stability update that we would advise all users to download.

Besides the bump up to build JWR66Y.H1, the upgrade brings a few changes to the kernel which are aimed at improving the stability of the native Android Vanilla Operating System running on the Play Edition One. Therefore, users should not notice any UI alterations, which was also the case when the update hit Nexus devices two weeks ago.

If you own a Google Play Edition HTC One and have not received the OTA update, you can head into “Settings,” then “About Device,” and select “Check for Updates” to manually scan for the upgrade.
