Sony’s latest high-end Android-powered phablet, the Xperia Z Ultra, was revealed back in June, and now both Three U.K. and O2 have officially announced that they will carry the device starting from today. The handset is available to purchase in-store from both carrier’s, as well as online from O2. Unfortunately, it will not be available online from Three U.K. until October 18.

The Z Ultra is a very respectable smartphone, packing a whopping 6.4-inch full HD capacitive touchscreen, a 2.2Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (upgradable up to 64GB via microSD), an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, an Adreno 330 GPU and a 3,050 mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery, in addition to IP58 dust protection and waterproofing.

The device ships running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, skinned with the latest version of Sony’s Xperia UI.

Three U.K. is offering the device on a 2-year plan starting at £34 per month, with a £99 upfront fee. Whilst O2 offers the handset on a variety of different 3G and 4G contract combinations through its newly announced O2 Refresh scheme.

If you don’t like the sound of signing up to a tariff, you could always grab one on PAYG from either carrier for a hefty price tag of £599, with PAYG plans starting at 3p minute, 2p a text and 1p per MB of data on Three U.K.
