O2 & Vodafone Successfully Launch 4G LTE In The U.K.

Today, two popular British carriers O2 and Vodafone have officially launched their much-anticipated 4G LTE services in the U.K., at last bringing an end to EE’s effective monopolization. O2 4G is accessible in London, Leeds and Bradford, whilst Vodafone LTE is confined to just London at present.

O2 is offering data in 1GB, 3GB and 5GB bundles. As part of a 4G launch-day promotion, any customer who signs up for a 3GB or 5GB package will automatically be upgraded to 5GB and 8GB, free of charge until October 31, 2013.

The full list of O2’s SIM-only 4G packages can be seen below:

  • £26.00 per month (12 month tariff) – 1GB of 4G data, unlimited U.K. Wi-Fi, unlimited calls and unlimited texts.
  • £31.00 per month (12 month tariff) – 5GB of data, unlimited U.K. Wi-Fi, unlimited calls and unlimited texts.
  • £36.00 per month (12 month tariff) – 8GB of data, unlimited U.K. Wi-Fi, unlimited calls and unlimited texts.

Vodafone is currently offering data in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB packages, with the option of getting a temporary boost to unlimited 4G data for three months as part of Vodafone’s “data test drive” program.
