Kobo Announces A New Trio Of Android-Powered Arc Tablets

Kobo has today announced three new Android-powered tablets aimed at budget, midrange, and high-end tablet consumers. There are two 7-inch models and one 10-inch model, all of which are part of Kobo’s Arc family of slates and e-readers — and they’ll start hitting U.K. stores on October 16.

Kobo Arc 10HD

The Kobo Arc 10HD is the high-end model, offering a 10-inch display with an impressive 2560×1600 resolution, a 1.8GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Other specifications include Bluetooth 4.0, and dual stereo speakers.

The Kobo Arc 10HD also has a nifty reading mode that can extend battery life to more than ten days. It will be priced at £299.99 in the U.K., where it will go on sale on October 16.

Kobo Arc 7HD

The Kobo Arc 7HD is Kobo’s new midrange device. It has a 7-inch display with a 1920×1200 resolution, a 1.7GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 1.3-megapixel camera. It also boasts 16GB or 32GB of internal storage and 8 hours of battery life.

The Kobo Arc 7HD will also be available on October 16, priced at £159.99 for 16GB of storage, and £189.99 for 32GB of storage.

The Kobo Arc 7 is an entry-level device designed for those “new to tablets.” It has a 7-inch display with a 1024×600 resolution, a 1.2GHz quad-core MTK 8125 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage. It will cost just £119.99.

Kobo says that all three devices will have access to Google Play, as well as Kobo’s own content store, and they will ship with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean pre-installed.
