As of today, Sony is pushing out a standard maintenance update for its Xperia S, SL, and Acro S handsets to fix a wide variety of reported issues based on user feedback.

This update brings assorted fixes for the built-in camera application; amending errors with the white balance, improvements to the “quick launch button,” and some minor adjustments to reduce lag when recording a 1080p video.

Apps and data related items have also received some bug fixes. EAS (Exchange Active Sync) has been streamlined, 2G network stability has been improved and an issue that removed third-party default app preferences has now been eliminated.

The upgrade also claims to bring several enhancements to the battery life of these handsets. Power consumption, heat dispersion, and battery level notifications have been redesigned and corrected, enabling you to get the most from your battery.

The home key will now act as a direct path to Google Now when pressed for a long period of time, and will launch recent apps when pressed twice rapidly.

Sony announced that this update will be coming to all three handsets, with variations in availability based on the market and carrier. So be sure to keep your eyes peeled for an update notification in your notification tray.
