Sony Releases Android 4.2.2 Update For Xperia Z

Xperia-Z-back

Sony is pretty poor at keeping its Android devices up to date, which is why Xperia Z owners have been waiting months for their Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean release. But that wait is now over. The update’s rollout has just begun in Spain and the Ukraine, and it’s hitting LTE versions of the Xperia Z with the “C6603” model number first.

GSMArena reports:

The update is now available for the LTE version of the Xperia Z (C6603) in Spain and Ukraine. Carriers in Austria, Czech Republic and the Netherlands have also approved the Android 4.2.2 update for the smartphone and are now seeding it complete with their own customizations.

It’s unclear how long it’ll take for the update to reach other territories, but we’re expecting it to be available pretty much everywhere within the next few weeks. After all, Sony has kept us waiting long enough, the least it could do is make its rollout quick.

The new update introduces a new kernel to the Xperia Z, as well as bug fixes and performance improvements. Users can also look forward to new features.
