The 16GB model starts at $499.99, while the 32GB model is priced at $599.99. Those who go for the latter and choose exclusive white instead of black qualify for a free charging cradle worth $44.99.

It’s unclear why the charging cradle doesn’t come with all pre-orders, and why it’s only exclusive to the white 32GB model, which is only available through the Sony Store. But it’s certainly going to be a little disappointing to those who were hoping to pick up the base model 16GB Xperia Tablet Z for $499.99.

But whether you get the charging cradle or not, you’re likely to be very pleased with your purchase when you unwrap your new tablet. At just 6.8mm thin, the Xperia Tablet Z is the thinnest 10.1-inch tablet on the market, and it’s also one of the very few that are both dust and water resistant.

Packed inside the slender shell is a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, a microSD card slot, an infrared blaster, NFC, and Bluetooth 4.0. The 10.1-inch display boasts a 1920×1200 resolution, and is powered by Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 technology.
