BaconReader Update Brings New Slideshow Mode, Friends Subreddit & More

BaconReader, my favorite Reddit client for Android, has today been updated to version 2.8. This update brings a number of new features, including a new slideshow mode that lets you scroll through posts with a simple swipe, a new friends subreddit, and more.

The new slideshow mode is a unique new way to browse Reddit. It gives every post its own page, so you can see larger photos, GIFs, and more, and when you’re ready to move onto the next, you just swipe your finger across the screen.

If you like to view every post inside a subreddit, then the slideshow mode works great. But if you just want to skim through them and pick out things that take your fancy, then it’s not so good, because it just slows you down. Thankfully, it’s easy to toggle between slideshow mode and the traditional list mode.

There’s also a new r/friends subreddit in this update, which lets you follow your favorite Redditors. To add friends to the list, just go to their profile and tap the ‘Add Friend’ button. You’ll need to be logged into your Reddit account to do this.

Other changes in this update can be found in the release notes below:

Added new viewing options in My Profile.
Resolved custom subreddit sorting bug.
Fixed subreddit dropdown scrolling issues.
Fixed subreddit selection when scrolling search results.
New progress bar utilizing Holo-style standards.

If you’re a Reddit user who’s yet to discover BaconReader, I urge you to check it out. It’s free, and it’s quite possibly the best Reddit client there is on Android. It sports a clean and simple interface, a ton of great features, and it’s super quick. You’ll find it in Google Play by clicking the source link below.
