Archos has announced that its new FamilyPad 2, the large 13.3-inch tablet that the company unveiled at CES, will be launching “very soon,” priced at €299 (approx. $389). The company confirmed the news in a post on its official Facebook page, but it didn’t say where the device would hit first.

Based on the price tag, however, we’re assuming Europe will see it first.

If you’re into super-sized tablets, then the FamilyPad 2 might be right up your street. The device has a huge 13.3-inch display — one of the largest displays on a tablet — that offers a 1280×800 resolution, as well as a 1.6GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor, a quad-core Mali 400 GPU, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage.

It also offers a microSD card slot, two 2-megapixel cameras — one on the front and one on the back — and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The device measures 337 x 230 x 11.6mm and weighs a hefty 2.86 pounds. As its name suggests, the FamilyPad 2 is aimed at families, and has a focus on sharing — hence the large display, and the included stand for watching movies.

Although the FamilyPad 2 wouldn’t be considered a high-end tablet with those specifications, its €299 price tag is attractive for a device of this size. Those waiting to get their hands on one should keep an eye on the Archos website, where the device will be available to purchase “very soon.”

When we have more information on its release in the U.S., we’ll update you.
