Skype 3.0: Optimized Tablet UI, Improved Audio Quality, And More

Skype for Android received a much needed update today, bringing the app to version 3.0. Changes made in the updated app include tablet optimization, improved audio, ability to sign in and merge with your Microsoft account, as well as the usual bug fixes.

The all new tablet optimization is a refreshing upgrade and finally allows tablet users to take advantage of all that extra space. You can get a quick glimpse at the new tablet UI in the video below.

Skype is also boasting a boost in audio quality thanks to the inclusion of their wideband audio codec, SILK. Skype even offers up a quick “if a tree were to fall in the woods” demo to show us the difference in audio quality. However, it doesn’t sound much different to me. Maybe you can hear this “boost in audio quality”?

Either way, it’s nice to see Skype receive an update. Any increase in performance and quality is a win in our book. You can download Skype 3.0 for Android by visiting the Play store link found below.
