HTC 5-inch Phablet Rumors Heating Up

With HTC’s New York event right around the corner, the rumors are flying from every direction. They all seem to point to a 5-inch device that appears to be making its way to Verizon. The top two possible names at this point are DROID Incredible X or HTC One X 5. I personally prefer the first.

The push to create a 5+ inch device seems to be everywhere thanks to Samsung and their popular Galaxy Note/Note II. LG just recently dropped one, and now HTC is looking to see if they can cash in on this once considered niche market. While spec rumors have been pretty impressive, one feature lacking is some sort of specialty pen/stylus support — which in my opinion, has been one of the leading features behind the Galaxy Note series.

What this gigantic HTC device is rumored to be sporting is a 5-inch 1080p screen with a pixel density of 480ppi, quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage, a non-removable battery, and wait for it… capacitive buttons!

Lack of microSD, non-removable battery, HTC Sense and capacitive buttons may be no go for most of you, but if you can get past that, you’ll have yourself your very own HTC phablet to carry around.

I’m sure more rumors will leak in the couple days leading to the event, however, you won’t get the real deal until Wednesday, so just sit tight.

My personal opinion — not feeling it. What do you think?
