Trick Or Treat: Gamestop To Start Selling The Wikipad This Halloween

While you’re giving out Snickers to your neighborhood zombies this Halloween, your local Gamestop will be selling Wikipads. What’s a Wikipad? Well, it’s an SEO leech (Wiki-iPad) that doubles as an Android gaming tablet. It’s hoping to attract the elite mobile gamers of the universe, who obviously prefer docking their tablet in a ginormous gaming pad/controller as opposed to using a comfortable Sony Dual Shock 3. Sarcasm aside, it does look somewhat interesting.

Surprisingly, the Wikipad isn’t that badly spec’d and even runs Android’s latest and greatest Jelly Bean. It features a 10.1-inch (diagonal) IPS LCD (1280×800) display, NVIDIA Tegra 3 T30s, 1.4GHz quad-core processor, as well as:

  • 1GB DDR2
  • Flash Memory: 16GB
  • Micro SD Slot: supports up to 32GB
  • Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n)
  • 2-megapixel front-facing camera
  • 8-megapixel rear camera (Autofocus, flash)
  • Docking connetor port
  • Built-in stereo speakers
  • Micro USB connector
  • Built-in 23.46 watt-hour rechargable battery
  • And more!

So far so good, but what about price? We all know that price is probably the single most important factor when it comes to whether or not an Android tablet will sell. The Wikipad will launch with a $499.99 price tag.

Personally, I’ll pass, but that price isn’t really that bad. I would have preferred $399, but given that it’s a 10-inch tablet and comes with that gaming dock/controller, I can see why it’s $499.

What do you think? Something you’re interested in, or will you be sticking to a Nexus 7 and a Dual Shock 3 controller?
