I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend. Time to get back to the daily grind, work off that potato salad, and check out a few Android related stories that hit over the weekend. You didn’t miss anything groundbreaking, but there are a couple rumors you might find interesting.

3G Nexus 7 On Its Way

This rumor comes from MaDoCo’s founder Paul O’Brien, who was happy to report his wish of a Nexus 7 complete with mobile connectivity was on its way. According to a “very well placed insider,” A 3G version of the Nexus 7 will launch in around 6 weeks. Unfortunately, that’s the only information we have to go on, leaving us to wonder about price, carrier and why no 4G?

Motorola To Release LTE Smartphone With Edge-to-Edge Screen

Motorola and Verizon are holding an event in NYC tomorrow, and according to a report by Bloomberg, someone close to the product has revealed it will feature an edge-to-edge screen, making it the first of its kind in the U.S. This bezel-less device will join the legion of 4G LTE devices already available on Verizon and should make quite the debut.

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Gets Ice Cream Sandwich

T-Mobile announced Ice Cream Sandwich for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 late Friday evening, and made it available via Samsung’s Kies software. If you haven’t already downloaded it, be sure to visit the link above and update to the second most recent version of Android.

HTC Misses End Of August ICS Update For Thunderbolt

HTC owners were happy when they found out they had made the list of devices set to receive Ice Cream Sandwich. HTC promised it would hit by the end of August, but as you can see, the end of August has come and gone. At least HTC came straight out and admitted to missing the promised date, and yes, they do still plan on updating the Thunderbolt. I guess users will just have to wait a few more weeks —- or months?

Orange UK Announces Mobile Payment System Quick Tap

This bit of news is for our friends across the pond. Orange UK announced plans to launch a new NFC mobile payment system on Wednesday. The system has been a year in the making and will be called Quick Tap. It uses NFC, similar to Google Wallet, and only requires a quick tap for payments to be made via a NFC-enable device. The service, which is provided by Barlaycard, will launch on the Samsung Galaxy S III and offer anyone who signs up a £50 credit.
