The LG G Watch R has gone without the new Wi-Fi syncing feature that was introduced with Android Wear 5.1.1 back in April, but not anymore. In Google’s latest Wear release, the G Watch R’s embedded Wi-Fi module is finally enabled.

With Wi-Fi connectivity on Android Wear, you can pick up notifications on your wrist even when you’re not close enough to your smartphone to be connected via Bluetooth. As long as both devices are connected to Wi-Fi networks, then they’ll continue to communicate, so you don’t have to miss a thing.

This feature wasn’t previously available on the G Watch R, even though the device had a built-in Wi-Fi module, but it will be available in Google’s new Wear update, which is rolling out to all watches “in the coming weeks,” the company confirmed today.

The update also brings interactive watch faces, and a new Together feature, which lets couples share photos, emojis and more using only their Wear watches.
