Buying a high-end smartphone isn’t easy, because there are so many to choose from, but that decision becomes even more difficult if you want a high-end smartphone in a small package; almost all of them now come with displays at least 5 inches big.

But not anymore, thanks to the Sony Xperia Z1f. It combines high-end specifications with a 4.3-inch display to provide a cutting-edge device that easy to operate with one hand and hardly noticeable in your pocket.

The Xperia Z1f will make its debut in Japan on NTT DoCoMo on December 19. It packs a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor — the same processor that powers the Galaxy S4, the Galaxy Note 3, and other premium devices — as well as 2GB of RAM, and a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera.

It doesn’t have a 1080p display — it’s only 720p — but most would argue that’s fine for a handset of this size.

The Xperia Z1f will be available in black, white, lime, and pink, and those in Japan will be able to pick it up on December 19. Unfortunately, Sony hasn’t yet said whether the Xperia Z1f will be available in other markets, but we’re certainly hoping it will be.
