After being leaked a number of times in recent weeks, the Desire 601 was today made official by HTC. The midrange handset has been designed to provide access to a number of headline HTC features — such as BoomSound, Sense 5, and HTC Zoe — in a slightly smaller, cheaper package.

From the front, the Desire 601 looks a lot like HTC’s flagship One, but it’s not quite as long and it has slightly more rounded edges. It features a 4.5-inch qHD LCD display and is powered by a 1.4GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor — which is the same chip that’s packed inside the One mini.

Not only does it look a lot like the One and One mini, but the Desire 601 also shares a lot of the same features. In addition to dual front-facing BoomSound speakers, it also runs the latest Sense 5 user interface, which includes the HTC Zoe camera features and BlinkFeed.

It also has a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, and 4G LTE connectivity. The Desire 601 comes in black, white, and red, and it’ll begin shipping in Europe in September.
