Google To Begin Selling Moto X Through Google Play Next Month [Rumor]

Moto X

The new Moto X is expected to join the Nexus 4, the Galaxy S4, and the HTC One on Google Play next month, allowing consumers to buy the device directly from Google. It’s already available from AT&T and Verizon, but according to a leaked screenshot from T-Mobile’s inventory, its model will only be available from Google Play.

The screenshot below, obtained by TmoNews, confirms that when the Moto X goes on sale with T-Mobile, it’ll be available from “Google Play only.” We’ll take this with a pinch of salt until it’s actually confirmed by Google or T-Mobile, but the image certainly suggests Google will soon be selling the device without the middleman.

If that’s the case, you may be able to purchase the device unlocked and free from carrier bloatware if you’re happy to sidestep the contract and pay full price for it. Google already offers this option with the three handsets mentioned above, so there’s no good reason why it cannot do the same with the Moto X.

T-Mobile’s inventory doesn’t reveal a release date for the Moto X, unfortunately, but it’s expected to launch sometime next month.
