HTC’s President of Global Sales, Jason Mackenzie, has officially revealed that the HTC One Developer Edition will be skipping the Android 4.2.2 update and will jump straight to the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

In a variety of tweets, Mackenzie confirmed that HTC made the decision to skip the Android 4.2.2 update because it “offered limited customer benefit” and “because 4.3 is so close.”

Sadly, Mackenzie did not care to elaborate on how “close” the Android 4.3 update actually is, but we are hoping it will make its appearance before the end of August.

Back in June, HTC started pushing out an OTA Android 4.2 update for its European and Asian versions of its flagship smartphone, which enabled stock devices to have a considerable time advantage over the Developer Edition.

Verizon announced that its branded version of the HTC One will be running Android 4.2 when it hits the shelves some time later this week, but we still have no information as to when AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint will start pushing out the update to its branded HTC One’s.
