MetroPCS Announces ZTE Avid 4G With Android 4.0 For $149

MetroPCS has added another affordable smartphone to its 4G lineup this morning in the form of the ZTE Avid 4G. The device runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and sports a “crystal-clear” 4-inch display — all for just $149 with no annual contract.

In addition to its 4-inch display, the Avid 4G boasts a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a VGA front-facing camera. It’s also the latest handset to join MetroPCS’s joyn service, which provides customers with “a unified and intuitive way to share their content with enriched services like integrated instant messaging or chat, WiFi and video calling.”

ZTE believes the Avid 4G offers consumers a “feature-rich smartphone” without breaking the bank.

“The Avid 4G offers consumers a feature-rich smartphone at an excellent price,” said Lixin Cheng , CEO of ZTE USA. “ZTE is committed to helping people connect and share in meaningful ways, and the Avid 4G is a great example of that mission.”

You can pick up the Avid 4G today from MetroPCS stores across the U.S., or via the carrier’s online store. 4G service plans range from $40 to $70 per month, but for a limited time, the carrier is offering promotional plans with unlimited 4G for $55 per month. The Avid 4G also supports mobile hotspot, which can be used for an additional monthly charge.
