After a successful round of funding on Kickstarter in 2013, the makers of the iblazr are back with a new generation: the iblazr 2. The LED flash accessory for iOS and Android has now gone wireless and includes a number of features and improvements to help your phone’s cameras out at night when it tends to struggles the most.

First and most importantly, the iblazr 2 works with the native camera apps on iOS and Android so you don’t have to download any separate app just to use the app. It connects to the device via Bluetooth 4.0 and tapping the iblazr 2 twice will quickly shine the four separate LED lights and snap a photo.

To improve upon the first-generation iblazr, the iblazr 2 does more than just brighten your photos and remove red eye. It has adjustable color temperature all the way from 5600K (cool) down to 3200K (warm) so you can choose which lighting suits the photo and environment best. Plus you can adjust the brightness of the flash as well.

The battery inside lasts for three continuous hours or 300 photos, which is pretty solid. Just charge it before you head out to an event. If you plan on taking more than 300 photos in one night, maybe take some time to reconsider your priorities in life.

The folks at iblazr lab also built a companion app. The LED flash does work perfectly fine with the native app, but for those who want a little more control and fine-tuning capabilities, there’s Shotlight. You can choose from all the standard tools like white balance and ISO before you take your photos.

As of today, iblazr 2 has eight days left in its campaign on Kickstarter. It’s already exceeded its funding goal of $70,000 with $174,657. You can back the project and essentially pre-order an iblazr 2 at a fairly affordable $49, so check this cool LED gadget out.
