Sony struggles to keep upcoming Xperia Z3 Compact under wraps

Z3 Compact

Sony’s yet-to-be announced flagship smartphone of 2014, the Xperia Z3, is expected to be unveiled this September during the annual IFA conference in Berlin, however, it looks like there may be another device adding to the line-up, as we’re now starting to see initial signs that a scaled-down variant is also in the works. Earlier today, a series of leaked images surfaced on a Chinese social networking website, allegedly showcasing the smaller handsets design.

According to the leaker, the device has been dubbed the Z3 Compact and features a 4.6-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a Snapdragon 801 processor with four cores clocked at 2.5GHz, an Adreno 330 GPU, 3GB of RAM, front-facing stereo speakers and a 20.7MP Exmor R sensor equipped with an F/2.0 lens and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) — so it certainly looks like it’s set to pack a punch with regards to its internals.

As with all leaks, rumors and speculation, we have to take these alleged specifications and launch dates with a large pinch of salt until Sony provides us with some solid evidence with regards to what it has in store for the first variant of its upcoming flagship smartphone.
